1. Reflections on Process-based Supply Chain Modelling and Analysis
Sammanfattning : The interest in modelling, analysis and optimisation of supply chain structures has increased in the last decade. Among the reasons are globalisation, a general speed-up of the rate of change in the business environment, the trend towards more outsourcing of activities, and the rapid development in IT. LÄS MER
2. Ridged sea ice modelling in climate applications
Sammanfattning : This work aims to increase our understanding of the nature of large scale features of sea ice from a dynamics point of view.Sea ice plays an important part in the exchange of heat and humidity between sea and air and thus is an important component of the climate system. LÄS MER
3. Modelling and Simulating Demand-Responsive Transport
Sammanfattning : Public transport is an efficient way to transport large volumes of travellers. However, there are systemic issues that make it hard for conventional public transport to provide efficient service on finer levels, like first- and last-mile problems or low-demand areas. LÄS MER
4. On modelling of slope stability in sensitive clay
Sammanfattning : The stability of natural slopes is a global problem, with the number of landslides and the associated socioeconomic losses increasing, as a result of the global trend of urbanisation, deforestation and changed weather patterns. The available methods for identifying potential failure modes and assessing the stability, however, overly simplify the modelled soil behaviour within a slope, which might lead to unnecessary mitigation measures or non-conservative results. 5. Terrain Modelling with GIS for Tectonic Geomorphology : Numerical Methods and Applications
Sammanfattning : Analysis of digital elevation models (DEMs) by means of geomorphometry provides means of recognising fractures and characterising the morphotectonics of an area in a quantitative way. The objective of the thesis is to develop numerical methods and a consistent GIS methodology for tectonic geomorphology and apply it to test sites. LÄS MER
