  1. 21. Application of high-frequency mechanical impact treatment for fatigue strength improvement of new and existing bridges

    Författare :Hassan al-Karawi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Corrosion; Bridges; Fatigue; Crackdetection; HFMI; Finiteelement; Steel; Lifeextension; Post-weldtreatment; Variableampli- tude;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the application of High-Frequency Mechanical Impact (HFMI) treatment for fatigue strength improvement of weldments in existing and new bridges. In the former case, the welds have already been subjected to fatigue loading and accumulated damage before treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Fatigue strength of engineering materials : the influence of environment and porosity

    Författare :Jan Linder; Bengt Lindberg; Lennart Josefsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stainless steel; cast aluminium; hardened steels; fatigue; corrosion; crack propagation; spot weld; porosity; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to use LEFM in order to assess the detrimental influence of surrounding chloride-containing environments for stainless steels, hardened steel as well as for a cast aluminium alloy. An additional aim was also to use LEFM to assess the influence of porosity on the fatigue properties for different commercial cast aluminium alloys and manufacturing methods. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Hydrolytic degradation of dental composites and effects of silane-treatment and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansion of composites

    Författare :Karl-Johan M. Söderholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal frictional theory; filler-matrix debonding; stress-corrosion; stressinfluenced diffusion; m icro-crack form ation; crazing; opacity; wear; osmotic pressure; hoop stresses;

    Sammanfattning : Some researchers have suggested that the weakest link of dental composites is the filler-matrix bond. However, due to incompleteness of information dealing with this bond and its stability in a humid environment, it was considered desirable to investigate the effect of water on this region, as well as the influence of filler bonding and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansionExperimental composites containing different filler fractions of either silane-treated or untreated fillers were made. 4. 24. Adhesion and Residual Stress Characterization of HVOF Sprayed Inconel 718 Coatings

    Författare :Christophe Lyphout; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVOF; Residual Stress; Inconel 718; Thermal spray; Adhesion Strength; Finite Element Method; High Velocity Oxy-Fuel;

    Sammanfattning : Thermal spray technology in general is nowadays recognized as an industrial process, mature enough to apply coatings on different substrate materials that protect parts against wear, corrosion, heat, or combinations of these. The quality demands on coating homogeneity and adhesion strength are, nowhere more than in the automotive and aeronautic industries, continuously increasing. LÄS MER

  5. 25. On the low primary water stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of weld deformed Alloy 690

    Författare :Rickard Shen; Pål Efsing; Jonas Faleskog; Grace Burke; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : It has been shown in recent years that the nickel-base Alloy 690 can become susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the primary water of nuclear power plants with pressurized water reactors if it has been sufficiently deformed at room temperature. Although the material is not intentionally used in a deformed state, it can become deformed by various manufacturing processes. LÄS MER
