16. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) : role of androgens and obesity on placental function and fetal development
Sammanfattning : Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder affecting women in childbearing age with a prevalence of up to 17.8%. 17. Polycystic ovary syndrome : a study of adipocyte lipolysis in relation to endocrine and metabolic status
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to obtain insight into possible regulatory effects of androgens on the regulation of lipolysis in subcutaneous as well as visceral adipose tissue in women with the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In non-obese women with PCOS, adrenergic lipolysis was investigated in both subcutaneous abdominal and visceral adipose tissue and several, novel disturbances were found. LÄS MER

19. Mass Spectrometric Applications for Diagnosing Metabolic and Endocrine Diseases

This thesis describes development and validation of liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) based tests for diagnosing a diverse group of endocrine and metabolic diseases. LÄS MER
20. Acupuncture in reproductive medicine. Applications in human assisted reproduction and aspects of clinical and experimental neuroendocrinology
Sammanfattning : The use of acupuncture in the area of reproductive medicine is relatively new, and it has been rather poorly investigated in the past. When muscle afferents are stimulated by acupuncture in somatic segments related to the innervation of the ovaries and the uterus, functional changes occur in the neural substrate that may influence reproductive function and result in peripheral, segmental and central effects.
