Reliable diagnostic markers are lacking, pre-cancerous lesions in the more aggressive tumors are not clearly defined, vague or unspecific early symptoms, and the localization of the ovaries, deep in the pelvis contributes to late diagnose. The majority of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions result from the presence of ischaemic tissue within the abdominal cavity.
