  1. 1. Computer Assisted Video Microscopy : in Characterization of Capillary Ensembles

    Författare :Claes Asker; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :computer assisted video microscopy; capillary loops; capillary ensembles; skin microcirculation; triangulation; nearest neighbour; MEDICINE;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on evaluation and analysis of capillary microcirculatory changes in the skin, that can be improved and extended by computer assisted video microscopy. Capillary microscopy has been used extensively, both in clinical practice and research, to study different phenomena in the microvasculature of the skin, mainly in the nailfold of fingers and toes where a large portion of the capillary loop can be observed. 2. 2. Angiogenesis from a new perspective

    Författare :Beatrice Bourghardt Peebo; Neil Lagali; Per Fagerholm; Anders Behndig; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is the emergence of new blood and lymph vessels from existing ones. In the pathologic form it contributes to the onset and progression of numerous different human disorders such as cancer, inflammation, atherosclerosis and blinding eye diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Physiological and morphological aspects of the glomerular barrier in health and disease. Results based on experimental studies in the rat

    Författare :Clara Hjalmarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :glomerular permeability; isolated perfused kidney; charge; endothelial surface layer; glycocalyx; electron microscopy; orosomucoid; nephrotic syndrome; proteinuria;

    Sammanfattning : Tremendous amounts of fluid are filtered every day through the kidneys. The anastomosing capillary loops surrounded by Bowman s capsule, forming the glomerulus, function in accordance with the interplay between the hydrostatic and the colloid osmotic pressure. The result of the action of these mechanisms is the production of primary urine. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ultrastructural studies of the blood-urine barrier in proteinuric states

    Författare :Fredrik Dunér; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The kidneys filter enormous amounts of blood every day, removing excess fluid and waste products while retaining cells and large proteins in the circulation. The podocytes with their foot processes and slit diaphragms (SD) are important components of the renal filter and the barrier function. LÄS MER
