  1. 6. Sensing Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Radio Waves: Studies of the 2, 3 and 4-D Structure of the Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Ground-based Radio Techniques Comprising the Global Positioning System, Microwave Radiometry and Very Long Baseline Interferometry

    Författare :Lubomir Gradinarsky; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave radiometry; global positioning system GPS ; water vapor; tomography; meteorology; propagation delay; delay gradients; climate;

    Sammanfattning : The radio wave propagation time, the primary observable in the geodetic techniques Global Positioning System (GPS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is affected by the presence of the atmospheric gases. By using appropriate modeling in the post-processing of the recorded phase measurements, together with local meteorological information, it is possible to estimate the total amount of atmospheric water vapor. 3. 8. The atmospheric contribution to Arctic sea-ice variability

    Författare :Marie-Luise Kapsch; Rune G. Graversen; Michael Tjernström; Jennifer Francis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea ice; Arctic; Climate Variability; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic sea-ice cover plays an important role for the global climate system. Sea ice and the overlying snow cover reflect up to eight times more of the solar radiation than the underlying ocean. Hence, they are important for the global energy budget, and changes in the sea-ice cover can have a large impact on the Arctic climate and beyond. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Water film-mediated mineralogical transformations and photocatalytic reactions

    Författare :N. Tan Luong; Jean-Francois Boily; Michael Holmboe; Alejandro Fernandez-Martinez; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mineral; water films; carbon dioxide; MgO; MnCO3; TiO2; hydroxylation; carbonation; oxidation; transformation; photocatalysis; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi; nanomaterials; nanomaterial; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Mineral particles capture water vapor in the atmosphere in the form of water films that are only few monolayers thick. Water films form nanoscale hydration environments that mediate a wide range of important reactions in nature and technology. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Water Condensation and Freezing in the Atmosphere: Exploring Deliquescence and Ice Nucleation

    Författare :Dimitri Castarède; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hygroscopicity; Deliquescence; Atmosphere; Particles; Ice Nucleation; Ice Nucleation Chamber;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosols play key roles in numerous atmospheric processes. They affect human health, are substrates and components for atmospheric chemistry, and via their contribution to clouds affect the water cycle and the energy balance of the planet. LÄS MER
