    Sammanfattning : Injuries are often associated with long-term suffering and lowered functioning, and personal injuries impose a huge burden on medical care and health services in addition to the costs associated with impaired functional ability. Each year in Sweden, falling accidents are experienced by a third of those aged 60 or over and half of those aged 80 or over, while injuries from traffic accidents still account for many of the serious accidents in youths and younger adults.     Sammanfattning : The aim was to study prevalence, assessment methods, and risk factors of chronic musculoskeletal pain, as well as effects on health status in a general population setting. A postal survey to a representative sample of 3928 subjects aged 20–74 years in 2 municipalities on the west coast of Sweden was followed by clinical examinations of selected subjects, and a three-year follow up survey to 2425 subjects who answered completely to the first.     Sammanfattning : Background: In 2005, the Västerbotten County Council launched a child health promotion programme, “the Salut Programme”, in response to an alarming prevalence of overweight and obesity, and trends of increased dental caries, among young county citizens. The programme, initially developed in four pilot areas, is built on multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration and aims to support and strengthen health promotion activities in health care, social services and school settings.
