1. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery. 2. Modelling and Simulation of Thermal Radiation in Biomass Combustion
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents numerical investigations and simulations of fixed bed combustion of wood, models for predicting thermal radiative properties of particles and gases related to the combustion of wood, and a review of heat load calculations in gas turbines. All subjects have a common factor in thermal radiation. LÄS MER
4. Indoor Thermal Environment in Supermarkets. A study of measured and perceived comfort parameters
Sammanfattning : In the supermarket environment three different groups must be considered: food (food quality), personnel (working conditions) and customers. Customers are of particular interest since they make up the commercial basis for the supermarket. Currently, however, there are no recommendations on the indoor environment for this category. LÄS MER
5. Analysis of PEM Fuel Cell Stacks and Systems with Water/Thermal Balances
Sammanfattning : The Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell has been investigated for a long time, and is regarded as a new energy source for various applications, such as portable, stationary and automotive ones. However, due to the shortage of the infrastructure in the society, the high cost, the difficulty of the water/thermal management, etc. LÄS MER
