1. Self-Lubricating Laser Claddings in the Context of Hot Metal Forming
Sammanfattning : Laser cladding is a coating technique with significant advantages like the high quality of the resulting layers, their excellent metallurgical bonding to the substrate or the possibility to repair/rework high-value mechanical components. In recent years, the incorporation of solid lubricants to the base powder in order to produce self-lubricating claddings has been shown in the literature to be possible, with several of the described coatings being able to operate at high temperatures with low friction and wear. 2. Tracked vehicles : the influence of design parameters on the tractive performance in deep snow
Sammanfattning : To increase the mobility of tracked vehicles in deep snow with the payload capacity preserved and the maintenance costs kept low, improved design is required. To optimise new tracked vehicles intended to operate in deep snow, more knowledge about the vehicle design parameters that affect the tractive performance in deep snow is needed, especially regarding the design of the track assembly and of the vehicle belly. 3. Friction in threaded fasteners : Influence of materials and tooling
Sammanfattning : Threaded fasteners represent the most common type of machine element, with a unique function that facilitates ease of assembly and disassembly. This ease of disassembly allows machine parts to be reused, refurbished, and recycled. LÄS MER
4. Variables affecting stress development and resin conversion in light-cured dental composites
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this dissertation was to identify and investigate factors that can be used to minimize stress development in light cured dental resins without compromising the conversion level of the polymer. Modulus of elasticity, polymerization contraction strain, degree of conversion and shrinkage of light-cure dental composites were determined after curing with three different light power densities where total irradiated energy (J/cm2) kept constant. 5. Carbon reinforced UHMWPE composites for orthopaedic applications : characterization and biological response to wear particles
Sammanfattning : Joint replacements have considerably improved the quality of life of patients with joints damaged by disease or trauma. However, problems associated with wear particles generated due to the relative motion between the components of the bearing are still present and can lead to the eventual failure of the implant.
