  1. 26. Getting the transport right - for what? : What transport policy can tell us about the construction of sustainability

    Författare :Mathilde Rehnlund; Björn Hassler; Fredrika Björklund; Dalia Mukhtar-Landgren; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; problem representation; transport policy studies; policy discourse; sustainable transport studies; urban transport studies; poststructuralist policy studies; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies transport as a governing tool that shapes the physical environment and human society, as well as having environmental impacts. The aim is to learn what policy for transport can say about what sustainability means and does. LÄS MER

  2. 27. The importance of tree cover for water resources in semiarid West Africa

    Författare :Aida Bargues Tobella; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The current paradigm in forest hydrology implies that an increase in tree cover always leads to reduced water yields as a result of increased interception and transpiration (ET) losses. This trade-off theory, in which more trees mean less water, has led to concerns that the establishment of trees in drylands may jeopardize scarce water resources. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Interception and storage of wet deposited radionuclides in crops : field experiments and modelling

    Författare :Stefan Bengtsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The emission of radionuclides into the atmosphere from various sources, such as nuclear power plant accidents and nuclear bomb explosions, can result in the interception and uptake of radionuclides by crops in the agricultural ecosystem. These radionuclides e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Endocrine disruption in fish : Effects of 17α-ethinylestradiol exposure on non-reproductive behavior, fertility and brain and testis transcriptome

    Författare :Tove Porseryd; Inger Porsch Hällström; Ioanna Katsiadaki; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 17α-ethinylestradiol; endocrine disrupting chemical; fish; behavior; fertility; transcriptome; RNA sequencing; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Aquatic environments are the end recipient for most anthropogenic chemical pollutants. One common chemical pollutant found in the aquatic environment is 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2), a synthetic estrogen used in contraceptive pills. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Forestry impact on water quality: a landscape perspective on dissolved organic carbon

    Författare :Jakob Schelker; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is a fundamental variable defining boreal stream ecosystems. In this thesis the impact of forestry practices that are commonly performed in the boreal regions of Scandinavia for stream water quality were evaluated. LÄS MER
