11. Development of catalytic enantioselective C-C bond-forming and cascade transformations by merging homogeneous or heterogeneous transition metal catalysis with asymmetric aminocatalysis
Sammanfattning : Chiral molecules play a central role in our daily life and in nature, for instance the different enantiomers or diastereomers of a chiral molecule may show completely different biological activity. For this reason, it is a vital goal for synthetic chemists to design selective and efficient methodologies that allow the synthesis of the desired enantiomer. LÄS MER
12. Kinetics of Nanoparticle Catalysis from First Principles
Sammanfattning : Modern society depends heavily on heterogeneous catalysis, which creates strong economical and environmental incentives to improve catalyst efficiency. Heterogeneous catalysts are often realized as metal nanoparticles (NPs) supported on oxide surfaces, and catalysts are traditionally developed by trial and error approaches. LÄS MER
13. Biomimetic Transition Metal Catalysts : Insights from Theoretical Modeling
Sammanfattning : The scientific interest in the chemistry of synthetic transition metal complexes is motivated by at least two arguments:1.These can be regarded as models of biological transition metal complexes, e.g. metalloenzymes, whose functions can be difficult to reveal in detail due to their complexity. 14. Reactivity of Transition-Metal Compounds from Electronic Structure
Sammanfattning : Transition-metal carbides (TMC's), nitrides, and sulfides belong to the class of materials known as transition-metal compounds (TMX's). Besides having intriguing properties, these materials are relevant for, e.g., growth and catalysis. LÄS MER
15. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied.
