  1. 1. Weldability of Precipitation Hardening Superalloys – Influence of Microstructure

    Författare :Joel Håkan Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hot cracking; GTAW; Transvarestraint testing; Varestraint testing; Gleeble testing; Solidification cracking; HAZ liquation cracking; Repair welding; Strain age cracking; EBW; DSC thermal analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Superalloys and in particular the precipitation hardened Ni-based superalloys havealways been used extensively in the hot sections of jet engines. Large hot structuralengine components with complex geometry have preferably been cast as single piececomponents since the large scale vacuum investment casting process becameavailable about fifty years ago. 2. 2. Microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V welds produced with different processes

    Författare :Sakari Tolvanen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; welding; porosity; microstructure; defects; Ti-6Al-4V;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium alloys are widely used for components in the fan and compressor sections of aeroengines mainly because of their superior strength-to-weight ratio. Large static compressor components can be manufactured by welding together smaller subcomponents, which has potential to provide benefits such as higher buy-to-fly ratio and improved performance of the components. 3. 3. The microstructures of Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo and their relationship to processing and properties

    Författare :Robert Pederson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The research described in the thesis concerns phase transformations and mechanical properties of the titanium alloys Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo. The need to weld the alloys for certain engine components can expose the alloy locally to non-optimum thermal cycles and it is therefore of importance to gain an understanding of the kinetics involved in the phase transformations during heating and cooling.
