  1. 16. Model Vertices Beyond the GW Approximation

    Författare :Mikael Hindgren; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; GW approximation; Electron self energy; Green s function; consistency; local-field corrections; vertex function; conserving approximations; variational energies; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Hindgren;

    Sammanfattning : We study the effects of local vertex corrections to the self energy of the electron gas. We find that a vertex derived from time-dependent density-functional theory can give accurate self energies without including the explicit time dependence of the exchange-correlation potential provided, however, that a proper decay at large momentum transfer (large q) is built into the vertex function. 2. 17. From Air to Aria. Relevance of Respiratory Behaviour to Voice Function in Classical Western Vocal Art

    Författare :Monica Thomasson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Abdominal wall; breathing; consistency; inhalation; lung volume; respiratory behaviour; phonation; rib cage; singers; singing; subglottal pressure; tracheal pull; vertical laryngeal position; voice source.;

    Sammanfattning : While previous studies of opera singers’respiratorybehaviour have focused on kinematic or dynamic aspects mainly,this thesis attempts to adopt a broader perspective. Not onlylung volumes, rib cage and abdominal wall kinematics areconsidered, but also the effects of lung volumes and respiratorybehaviour on phonation characteristics. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Programming Model and Protocols for Reconfigurable Distributed Systems

    Författare :Cosmin Ionel Arad; Seif Haridi; Gregory Chockler; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; distributed systems; programming model; message-passing concurrency; nested hierarchical composition; reactive components; software architecture; dynamic reconfiguration; multi-core; discrete-event simulation; peer-to-peer; testing; debugging; distributed key-value stores; data replication; consistency; linearizability; network partition tolerance; consistent hashing; self-organization; scalability; elasticity; fault tolerance; consistent quorums;

    Sammanfattning : Distributed systems are everywhere. From large datacenters to mobile devices, an ever richer assortment of applications and services relies on distributed systems, infrastructure, and protocols. Despite their ubiquity, testing and debugging distributed systems remains notoriously hard. LÄS MER

  4. 19. True and false intentions: Can the concept of "episodic future thoughts" help to discriminate?

    Författare :Melanie Knieps; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; deception detection; true and false intentions; criminal intentions; episodic future thoughts; repeated interviews; unanticipated questions; consistency;

    Sammanfattning : In legal settings it is important to be able to assess the veracity of statements provided by suspects, witnesses and alleged victims. This is why there is a large body of literature on deception detection (Vrij 2008; Granhag & Strömwall, 2004). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Modelling and Inference for Spatio-Temporal Marked Point Processes

    Författare :Ottmar Cronie; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymptotic normality; Consistency; Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process; Diffusion process; Edge correction; Goodness-of-fit; Richards growth function; Growth-interaction process; Immigration-death process; Least squares estimation; Markov process; Maximum likelihood estimation; Open-growth; Spatio-temporal marked point process; Stationarity; Stochastic differential equation; Transition density; Asymptotic normality;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with inference problems related to the growth-interaction process (GI-process). The GI-process is a continuous time spatio-temporal point process with dynamic interacting marks (closed disks), in which the immigration-death process (ID-process) controls the arrivals of new marked points as well as their potential life-times.
