  1. 1. Regulation of Tissue Factor and Coagulation Activity : Translation Studies with Focus on Platelet-Monocyte Aggregates and Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome

    Författare :Christina Christersson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Jonas Oldgren; Ingebjorg Seljeflot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; Myocardial infarction; Coagulation; Platelet-monocyte aggregates; Tissue factor; Thrombin inhibition; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Myocardial infarction (MI) is often caused by a disruption of an atherosclerotic plaque with activation of coagulation, platelets and inflammation. The aims were; to investigate whether the oral direct thrombin inhibitor, ximelagatran affected markers for coagulation, platelet and inflammation in a patient cohort with recent MI and if the coagulation markers could identify patients with increased risk of new ischemic events; to evaluate some of the mechanisms involved in formation of platelet-monocyte aggregates (PMAs). 2. 2. Acute coronary syndrome : bleeding, platelets and gender

    Författare :Anna Holm; Eva Swahn; Joakim Alfredsson; Sofia Sederholm Lawesson; Christina Christersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUNDBleeding complications increase mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Potential gender difference in bleeding regarding prevalence, location, severity and prognostic impact is still controversial and not well investigated. In regard to this aspect the relevance of triple antithrombotic therapy (TAT) is questioned. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Importance of peripheral arterial disease as a risk marker in patients with myocardial infarction

    Författare :Birgitta Jönelid; Christina Christersson; Nina Johnston; Bertil Lindahl; Bertil Andrén; Lena Jonasson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Coronary heart disease; Peripheral artery disease; Polyvascular disease; Inflammatory biomarkers; TNFR-1; TNFR-2; GDF-15; Cardiovascular events.; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to describe the true prevalence of widespread arterial disease in a cohort with patients with a recent myocardial infarction (MI) to find valuable clinical methods to detect these patients. Our aim was also to investigate biomarker relationships with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and the importance of PAD in patients’ long-term outcomes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical Outcomes of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)

    Författare :Konrad Nilsson; Stefan James; Christina Christersson; Giovanna Sarno; Henrik Schirmer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transcatheter aortic valve implantation; aortic stenosis; clinical outcomes; risk prediction; geographical differences; coronary artery disease; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valvular heart disease and most prevalent in the elderly. In the latest decades, a new method for replacement of the aortic valve: transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has been introduced. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pregnancy Complications and Cardiovascular Disease

    Författare :Elin Täufer Cederlöf; Christina Christersson; Bertil Lindahl; Maria Lundgren; Serena Tonstad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pregnancy complications; Cardiovascular disease; Prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Women with a history of pregnancy complications have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) later in life. The overall aims were to investigate pregnancy complications as cardiovascular risk factors; whether they have predictive value for the spread of atherosclerosis in older women, whether they are associated with atherosclerotic CVD after adjusting for major confounders, both at the population-level and in women with structural heart disease; and to investigate cardiovascular biomarkers in women with spontaneous preterm birth.
