    Författare :Reiko Akiyama; Jon Ågren; Arjen Biere; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis thaliana; life history evolution; flowering time; germination; phenology; plant-herbivore interactions; natural selection; tolerance to leaf damage; resistance to herbivory; Plutella xylostella; Mamestra brassicae; Biology with specialization in Ecological Botany; Biologi med inriktning mot ekologisk botanik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I combined observational studies with field and greenhouse experiments to examine selection on life history traits and variation in tolerance and resistance against herbivores in natural populations of the annual herb Arabidopsis thaliana in its native range. I investigated (1) phenotypic selection on flowering time and plant size, (2) the effects of timing of germination on plant fitness, (3) the effect of leaf damage on seed production, and (4) correlations between resistance against a specialist and a generalist insect herbivore. 2. 27. Light stress proteins from Arabidopsis thaliana : identification, characterisation and expression

    Författare :Mounia Heddad; Phillip Mullineaux; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Plants are major players in the vital process of photosynthesis that takes place in organelles called chloroplasts. Plant's immobility makes them victims of the tremendous fluctuations in light intensity and quality that often lead to inhibition of their physiological functions. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Phosphoproteomic analysis of Arabidopsis thaliana ribosomes

    Författare :Hanna Klang Årstrand; Alexander Vener; Cornelia Spetea Wiklund; Ingemar Rundquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Ribosomes serve as the site of protein synthesis in all living cells. Ribosomes were discovered in 1955 by George E. Palade when he was studying the endoplasmic reticulum which is covered by ribosomes. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1974 for this discovery. LÄS MER

  4. 29. The molecular mechanisms behind perception and signal transduction of UV-B irradiation in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Irina Kalbina; Åke Strid; Lars-Gunnar Franzén; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Action spectroscopy; Arabidopsis; gene expression; reverse genetics; signal transduction; UV-B irradiation.; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Elevation of UV-B radiation (280-315 nm), occurring as a result of depletion of the stratospheric ozone, causes a number of physiological and biochemical changes in plants. Damage to the photosynthetic apparatus (including the bleaching of the pigments which trap the sun's energy), to the processes of cell division and growth regulation, and to the composition and replication of genetic material are just some of these changes. 5. 30. Mechanisms and genes controlling the signalling network for biotic and abiotic stress defences in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heyhn : Functional cross-talk between photo-produced reactive oxygen species, photosynthesis and plant disease defence responses

    Författare :Christine Chi-Chen Chang; Stanislaw Karpinski; Christine Foyer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reactive oxygen species; Arabidopsis thaliana; signalling work; biotic stress; abiotic stress; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Excess excitation energy, mechanical injury and defence against pathogens, each trigger rapid production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in Arabidopsis thaliana leaves. ROS, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), are required for the induction of systemic acquired acclimation and may lead to redox changes in photosynthetic electron transport (PET). LÄS MER
