1. Visual Attention in Active Vision Systems : Attending, Classifying and Manipulating Objects
Sammanfattning : This thesis has presented a computational model for the combination of bottom-up and top-down attentional mechanisms. Furthermore, the use for this model has been demonstrated in a variety of applications of machine and robotic vision. LÄS MER
2. Active Matter in a Critical State: From passive building blocks to active molecules, engines, and active droplets
Sammanfattning : The motion of microscopic objects is strongly affected by their surrounding environment. In quiescent liquids, motion is reduced to random fluctuations known as Brownian motion. Nevertheless, microorganisms have been able to develop mechanisms to generate active motion. LÄS MER
3. Reinforcement Learning for Active Visual Perception
Sammanfattning : Visual perception refers to automatically recognizing, detecting, or otherwise sensing the content of an image, video or scene. The most common contemporary approach to tackle a visual perception task is by training a deep neural network on a pre-existing dataset which provides examples of task success and failure, respectively. 4. Radio Studies of Circumnuclear Gas in Active Galaxies
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have used radio interferometry in order to perform high resolution spectral line studies of circumnuclear gas in AGN and starburst galaxies. Amongst the studied objects is the Seyfert 2 NGC5793, for which we find the high opacity HI absorption to be consistent with a 50-100 pc radius atomic disk aligned with the host galaxy disk. LÄS MER
5. On Performance Evaluation of Automotive Active Safety Systems
Sammanfattning : Road traffic accidents are a major global problem, annually causing over 1.2 million fatalities. To improve road safety, active safety systems support the driver by monitoring the vehicle and its surroundings, identifying hazardous situations and actively intervening to prevent or mitigate consequences of accidents.
