  1. 1. Model Based Coding : Initialization, Parameter Extraction and Evaluation

    Författare :Zhengrong Yao; Haibo Li; Ralf Schäfer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Model-based coding; Motion estimation; Vision based tracking; Initialization; Analysis-by-Synthesis; Texture mapping; Active tracking.; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers topics relevant to model-based coding. Model-based coding is a promising very low bit rate video coding technique. The idea behind this technique is to parameterize a talking head and to extract and transmit the parameters describing facial movements. At the receiver, the parameters are used to reconstruct the talking head. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Model Selection and Sparse Modeling

    Författare :Yngve Selén; Peter Stoica; Jean-Jacques Fuchs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model selection; model order selection; model averaging; nested models; sparse models; Bayesian inference; MMSE estimation; MAP estimation; ML estimation; AIC; BIC; GIC; RAKE receivers; pulse compression; radar; linear models; linear regression models; Signal processing; Signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Parametric signal models are used in a multitude of signal processing applications. This thesis deals with signals for which there are many candidate models, and it is not a priori known which model is the most appropriate one. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Model Selection

    Författare :Yngve Selén; Peter Stoica; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Before using a parametric model one has to be sure that it offers a reasonable description of the system to be modeled. If a bad model structure is employed, the obtained model will also be bad, no matter how good is the parameter estimation method. There exist many possible ways of validating candidate models. 4. 4. Model-based and matched-filterbank signal analysis

    Författare :Andreas Jakobsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-parametric spectral estimation; efficient implementations; array processing; parameter estimation; identifiability; subspace fitting; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; Signalbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation deals with model-based and matched-filterbank signal analysis. The matched-filterbank (MAFI) spectral estimation approach is introduced, and it is shown that both the amplitude spectrum Capon (ASC) and the amplitude and phase estimation (APES) spectral estimators can be expressed as MAFI spectral estimators. 5. 5. Generalization under Model Mismatch and Distributed Learning

    Författare :Martin Hellkvist; Ayca Özcelikkale; Anders Ahlén; Martin Jaggi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; Signal processing; Generalization error; Training error; Double-descent; Double descent; Distributed learning; Distributed optimization; Learning over networks; Model mismatch; Model misspecification; Fake features; Missing features; linear regression; regularization; Machine learning; Maskininlärning;

    Sammanfattning : Machine learning models are typically configured by minimizing the training error over a given training dataset. On the other hand, the main objective is to obtain models that can generalize, i.e., perform well on data unseen during training. LÄS MER
