11. Cell therapy for denervated tissue
Sammanfattning : Background: Peripheral nerve injury results in denervation of tendons and muscles. The biology of denervated muscle has been well studied but little is known about the associated tendons. LÄS MER
12. Neuropharmacological studies of Parkinson's disease with some emphasis on serotonin transmission
Sammanfattning : Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by hypokinesia, rigidity, tremor, gait disturbances and depression. There is an accumulative of protein aggregates, Lewy bodies, which appear to begin in the brainstem and progress caudorostrally. LÄS MER
13. Neurotrophins and nitric oxide in relation to airway responses in experimental asthma in vivo
Sammanfattning : Asthma is an inflammatory disease of allergic or non-allergic genesis characterized by intermittent reversible airway obstruction and variable degrees of persistent airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR). Increase in AHR likely arises from augmented airway inflammation, such as associated with a late airway response. LÄS MER
14. Bilateral neurogenic mechanisms following acute unilateral inflammation
Sammanfattning : The contribution of neurogenic mechanisms to inflammation has been extensively studied during the last decade, but provides no clear understanding of the bilateral changes commonly seen following unilateral stimulation. This work demonstrates that bilateral neurogenic mechanisms are a part of general host defence reactions following acute unilateral challenge, for the first time revealing that local anaesthetics applied contralaterally, might be used for therapeutic purposes in relieving pain and inflammation. 15. Functional Aspects of Peripheral and Spinal Cord Neurons Involved in Itch and Pain
Sammanfattning : We have investigated the role of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGluR7) and the gastrin releasing peptide receptor (Grpr) population that are involved at different levels of itch transmission. We found that mGuR7 deficient mice displayed an anaphylaxis-like behavior when provoked with histamine. LÄS MER
