  1. 11. Engine Thermal Management in Heavy Duty Vehicles

    Författare :Arne Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Control Simulation; Heat Exchangers; Heat Transfer; Thermal Management; Turbomachinery;

    Sammanfattning : Future regulations on noise and exhaust emissions have a large impact on heavy duty engine installations. Cooled EGR is used for NOx abatement. Better sealed engine encapsulations are used to meet new noise regulations. Engine thermal management is therefore becoming an increasingly important discipline. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Fuel-Efficient Distributed Control for Heavy Duty Vehicle Platooning

    Författare :Assad Alam; Karl Johansson; Ather Gattami; Roy Smith; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optimal Control; Heavy Duty Vehicle; Platooning; Fuel; Reachability; Game Theory;

    Sammanfattning : Freight transport demand has escalated and will continue to do so as economiesgrow. As the traffic intensity increases, the drivers are faced with increasinglycomplex tasks and traffic safety is a growing issue. Simultaneously, fossil fuel usageis escalating. Heavy duty vehicle (HDV) platooning is a plausible solution to theseissues. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Development of a Novel Method for Lithium-Ion Battery Testing on Heavy-Duty Vehicles

    Författare :Pontus Svens; Mårten Behm; Göran Lindbergh; Per Alvfors; Anders Malmqvist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Lithium-ion battery; HEV; field testing; heavy-duty vehicles;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing demands for lower environmental impact from vehicles, including heavy-duty vehicles, have driven several vehicle manufacturers to consider adding hybrid electrical vehicles (HEV’s) to the product portfolio. Present research on batteries for HEV’s is mainly focused on lithium-ion battery chemistries, since lithium-ion batteries has the most promising technical potential compared to other types of batteries. 4. 14. Look-ahead control for fuel-efficient and safe heavy-duty vehicle platooning

    Författare :Valerio Turri; Karl H. Johansson; Petros Ioannou; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; platoon; platooning; optimization; optimal control; model predictive control; automatic control; fuel efficiency; intelligent transport systems; automated driving; cooperative; dynamic programming; trucks; heavy-duty vehicles; safe platooning; fuel-efficient platooning; distributed model predictive control; MPC; vehicle-following; pulse and glide; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The operation of heavy-duty vehicles at small inter-vehicular distances, known as platoons, lowers the aerodynamic drag and, therefore, reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Tests conducted on flat roads have shown the potential of platooning to reduce the fuel consumption of about 10%. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Coordination of Heavy-Duty Vehicle Platooning

    Författare :Sebastian van de Hoef; Dimos V. Dimarogonas; Simona Sacone; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; road freight transport; optimization; optimal control; automatic control; fuel-efficiency; match-making; off-board; intelligent transport systems; automated driving; clustering; scheduling; cooperative; large-scale; dynamic programming; trucks; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A network-wide coordination system for heavy-duty vehicle platooning with the purpose of reducing fuel consumption is developed. Road freight is by far the dominating mode for overland transport with over 60 % modal share in the OECD countries and is thus critically important for the economy.
