  1. 1. Trade-offs and conflicting objectives of decision-making investments in low-carbon technology portfolios for sustainable development : National and continental insights offered by applying energy system models

    Författare :IOANNIS PAPPIS; Viktoria Martin; Will Usher; Mark Howells; Catalina Spataru; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sustainable development; energy systems analysis; modelling tools; energy policy; energy resources management; techno-economic analysis; low-carbon technology portfolios; energy access; OSeMOSYS; Paraguay; Ethiopia; Africa; hållbar utveckling; energisystemanalys; modelleringsverktyg; energipolitik; energiresursförvaltning; teknisk-ekonomisk analys; energiteknologiportföljer; tillgång till energi; OSeMOSYS; Paraguay; Ethiopia; Africa; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Energy infrastructure and appropriate energy policies are crucial for sustainable development and to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Limiting global warming potential below 1.5oC would require “rapid and far-reaching” transitions and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Energy transition in transportation : Applying TIMES-based energy system optimisation models to sub-national levels

    Författare :Jonas Forsberg; Anna Krook-Riekkola; Andrea Toffolo; Åsa Lindman; Krister Sandberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system analysis; ESOM; Transportation; Climate change; Air quality; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Transportation is embedded in the fabric of society and a key enabler of socio-economic development, but it is also a major source of carbon dioxide (CO2) and local air pollution (AP). Cities collectively account for around three quarters of total energy-related CO2 emissions, and the negative health impacts from local APs are most felt in dense urban environments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Low-energy buildings : energy use, indoor climate and market diffusion

    Författare :Johannes Persson; Stefan Grönkvist; Svend Svendsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building energy simulations; energy efficiency gap; energy use; indoor climate; low-energy buildings;

    Sammanfattning : Low-energy buildings have, in recent years, gained attention and moved towards a large-scale introduction in the residential sector. During this process, national and international criteria for energy use in buildings have become stricter and the European Union has through the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive imposed on member states to adapt their building regulations for ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’, which by 2021 should be standard for new buildings. 4. 4. National Energy System Modelling for Supporting Energy and Climate Policy Decision-making: The Case of Sweden

    Författare :Anna Cecilia Krook Riekkola; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; climate policy; district heating; TIMES-Sweden; ancillary benefits; energy system models; cross-border trade; energy-economics; soft-linking.; CHP; system analysis; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Energy system models can contribute in evaluating impacts of energy and climate policies. The process of working with energy system models assists the understanding of the quantita-tive relationships between different parts of the energy system and between different time periods, under various assumptions. 5. 5. Energy analysis for sustainable mega-cities

    Författare :Aumnad Phdungsilp; Björn Palm; Ivo Martinac; Charles Heaps; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asian mega-cities; energy demand; metabolism of cities; energy modeling; sustainable energy; energy planning; multi-criteria decision-making; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Cities throughout Asia have experienced unprecedented economic development over the past decades. In many cases this has contributed to their rapid and uncontrolled growth, which has resulted in a multiplicity of problems, including rapid population increase, enhanced environmental pollution, collapsing traffic systems, dysfunctional waste management, and rapid increases in the consumption of energy, water and other resources.
