Trust Dynamics in the Process of Performance Evaluation of Individuals in Project Management Context. A literature study

Sammanfattning: This thesis represents a literature study that deals with trust in performance evaluation of individuals who work in projects. The intention is to introduce a broader perspective of performance evaluations in accounting research by highlighting time dimension and a psychosocial dimension of accounting, with a focus on interpersonal trust. Through understanding the dynamics of trust in the process of performance evaluation, managers will be better positioned to influence individuals so that performance and efficiency could be improved. This is decisive in managing projects as globalisation makes competition harder, puts demand on technological changes, and results in shortened product life cycles. Thus, it is necessary to make performance evaluation in project management context more efficient. The purpose of this study is to find out what prior research has been done on trust dynamics in performance evaluation of individuals in project management context. The review is based on articles published between 1994 and 2005 in influential journals from the database Business Source Premier and Science Direct. The specific aim is to map the knowledge and the eventual limitations within this area to find a broader understanding. The knowledge thus gained will result in a model and serve as a point of departure for further research.
