16. MULTIFOCAL SPHERICAL FISH LENSES
Sammanfattning : Vision is an important source of information for many animals. The lens plays a central role in the visual pathway and hence the ecology of these animals. Fish have spherically shaped crystalline lenses that contain a gradient of refractive index. Like all refracting elements, lens performance depends on the wavelength of the refracted light. LÄS MER
17. The Mesoproterozoic Hallandian event - a region-scale orogenic event in the Fennoscandian Shield
Sammanfattning : The Sveconorwegian Province occupies the southwestern part of the Fennoscandian Shield. The easternmost tectonic unit of the Province is the 1710-1660 Ma parautochthonous Eastern Segment, which bears the imprint of at least two metamorphic events; the 1460-1380 Ma Hallandian and the 1150-970 Ma Sveconorwegian. 18. Model Uncertainty in Fire Safety Engineering
Sammanfattning : Summary: Traditionally, fire safety has often been addressed with methods based on prescriptive recommendations. The opportunity to use an alternative analytical approach has led to the development of fire safety engineering, beginning with structural fire safety design in the 1960's and today including fire safety design and fire risk analysis in general. 19. Behaviour of fracture process zones in concrete influenced by simultaneously applied normal and shear displacements
Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with the determination of the post peak behaviour of concrete in pure tension, and combined tension (compression) and shear. A test arrangement has been developed in order to determine the post peak behaviour of concrete expressed as stress - displacement curves. LÄS MER
20. Water quality modeling based on landscape analysis: importance of riparian hydrology
Sammanfattning : Several studies in high-latitude catchments have demonstrated the importance of near-stream riparian zones as hydrogeochemical hotspots with a substantial influence on stream chemistry. An adequate representation of the spatial variability of riparian-zone processes and characteristics is the key for modeling spatio-temporal variations of stream-water quality. LÄS MER
