21. Electrochemical Biosensors Based on Functionalized Zinc Oxide Nanorods
Sammanfattning : The semi-conductor zinc oxide (ZnO), a representative of group II-VI has gained substantial interest in the research community due to its novel properties and characteristics. ZnO a direct band gap (3.4eV) semi-conductor has a stable wurtzite structure. LÄS MER
22. Nanopolysaccharides for adsorption of heavy metal ions from water
Sammanfattning : With population expansion and industrialization, heavy metal has become one of the biggest and most toxic water pollutants, which is a serious problem for human society today. The aim of this work is to explore the potential of nanopolysaccharides including nanocellulose and nanochitin to remove metal ions from contaminated water. LÄS MER
23. Regulation of Aquaporins by Proteins, Metal ions and Phosphate groups
Sammanfattning : Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane-bound intrinsic water channels that allow the passive diffusion of water and small solutes across cellular membranes. There are 13 highly conserved isoforms of these channels in human, which differ in specificity, regulation and localisation in cells and tissues. LÄS MER
24. Quantified In Situ Analysis of Initial Atmospheric Corrosion : Surface heterogeneity, galvanic effects and corrosion product distribution on zinc, brass and Galvalume
Sammanfattning : The interaction of the surface of a pure metal or an alloy with the surrounding atmosphere occurs in a highly complex interfacial regime. During atmospheric corrosion this interfacial regime involves the metal surface, often covered by a naturally formed oxide layer of a few nanometers thickness; an aqueous adlayer, typically with a thickness of a few to a few tens of nanometers, and the atmosphere from which airborne particles, oxygen, and gaseous pollutants dissolve into the adlayer and influence the atmospheric corrosion process. 25. Towards simulating fully charged protein-DNA systems in water : Zif268-DNA as a test case
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we develop a computing strategy to simulate fully charged protein-DNA systems with a general force field (GROMOS87). The ions neutralizing the phosphates (P-ions) are submitted to global symmetry constraints. A model exhibiting ionic-atmosphere effects on mobile P-ions was implemented via very weak restraint forces. LÄS MER
