1. Zinc Oxide Bulk and Nanorods
Sammanfattning : Zinc Oxide (ZnO) has many promising properties for optoelectronics, sensor applications, transparent electronics etc. To mention a few, ZnO has a large exciton binding energy (60 meV at room temperature) and a direct wide bandgap energy of 3.37 eV. In addition, ZnO is piezoelectric and shows more resistance to radiation damage than Si and GaN. LÄS MER
2. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence
Sammanfattning : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 3. Release rates and toxicity of metals from anti-fouling paints and the role of chemical speciation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to investigate and improve the risk assessment of anti-fouling paints. A new method, the Petri-dish method, was developed to determine release rates of copper and zinc from anti-fouling paints (Paper I). LÄS MER
4. Pea-Protein Products for Food Applications Methods for Improving Iron and Zinc Availability
Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with some aspects of and possibilities for the production of pea protein with improved nutritional and physiological qualities. The improved pea protein can be used as a beneficial alternative to soya protein in food applications, such as infant formula. LÄS MER
5. Towards Abatement of Selected Emissions from Metals Manufacturing
Sammanfattning : Although the metallurgical industry has made great strides in the reduction of unwanted emissions to the atmosphere as a result of production processes, significant challenges still exist. From a global perspective, even large reductions in emissions per produced ton become immaterial when considering that the total world production of metals continues to increase. LÄS MER
