  1. 1. Studies on the Recovery of Secondary Antimony Compounds from Waste

    Författare :Toni Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Morphology; Thermolysis; Leaching; Municipal Solid Waste; Zinc; Metal Oxide Varistor; Cementation; Fly Ash; Recycling; Antimony;

    Sammanfattning : The global supply of antimony is dominated by one country which has led the European Union to classify antimony as a critical raw material. Other than the rare-earth elements antimony has the highest supply risk. Therefore, a feasibility study on the recycling of antimony and antimony compounds is of great importance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Occurrence and environmental risk assessment of antifouling paint biocides from leisure boats

    Författare :Maria Lagerström; Ann-Kristin Eriksson Wiklund; Erik Ytreberg; Kent Salo; Andrew Turner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antifouling paint; XRF; leisure boat; recreational boating; copper; zinc; tributyltin; organotin compounds; risk assessment; biocide; metals; release rate; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The use of biocidal antifouling (AF) paints is the most common way to prevent fouling on leisure boat hulls. The main aim of this thesis was to investigate the pathways through which AF biocides, past and present, may reach the environment through their use on leisure boats and to improve the risk assessment of biocidal AF paints intended for amateur use. 3. 3. The role of particles on initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc : lateral distribution, secondary spreading and CO2-/SO2-influence

    Författare :Zhuo Yuan Chen; Christofer Leygraf; Jan-Erik Svensson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric corrosion; copper; zinc; NaCl particles; NH4 2SO4; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of sodium chloride (NaCl) particles and ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4) particles on the initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc was investigated under in situ and ex situ conditions using microgravimetry, FTIR spectroscopy, ion chromatography, scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and the scanning Kelvin probe. For the first time, in situ infrared spectra were collected on a micron level during particle induced atmospheric corrosion using a recently developed experimental set-up for in situ FTIR microspectroscopy. 4. 4. Selenium Compounds in Milk. Studies of Selenoproteins, Selenium Enrichment and Oxidative Stability of Food

    Författare :Tien Hoac; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabolism; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Copper; Zinc; Oxidative stability; Thioredoxin reductase; Glutathione peroxidase; Selenoproteins; Milk; Selenium supplementation; Technological sciences; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Selenium is an essential nutrient and in animals and humans it can either be specifically incorporated into proteins as selenocysteine or randomly as selenomethionine. It can also occur as low-molecular-weight compounds and the form of selenium in foods may also influence food quality. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Removal and Recovery of Metals from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration ashes by a Hydrometallurgical Process

    Författare :Jinfeng Tang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MSWI ash; Cyanex 572; leaching; zinc; Cyanex 923; solvent extraction; LIX860N-I; copper; mixer-settler;

    Sammanfattning : Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) fly ash contains significant amounts of leachable metals, and is therefore considered to be a hazardous waste. The increased amounts of fly ash generated cause environmental issues, management costs and accumulation of valuable metals in landfills. LÄS MER
