11. Bipolar Transistor Parameter Extraction, Modeling and Test Structure Design
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, techniques are presented for determining the model parameter values required by compact bipolar transistor models in circuit simulators. Specifically, extraction of the Early voltages and the transistor series resistances are treated in detail. Extraction of other compact model parameters is also covered. LÄS MER
12. Measuring quantum systems with a tunnel junction
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with employing the statistics of charge transfer in a conductor as a tool for quantum measurement. The physical systems studied are electronic devices made by nanoscale manufacturing techniques. In this context quantum measurement appears not as a postulate, but as physical process. LÄS MER
13. Two-Photon Absorption and Photorefraction in Semiconductors and Ferroelectrics
Sammanfattning : Two-photon absorption spectra of Al0.4Ga0.6As/GaAs quantum wells in static electric fields are investigated experimentally. A drastic field-induced increase in the absorption peaks at energies close to half the bandgap energy is reported for the first time. LÄS MER
14. Quantum Transport in Superconductor-Semiconductor Nanowire Hybrid Devices
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we study quantum transport properties of superconductor-semiconductor nanowire hybrid devices. We mainly focus on the quantum transport in InSb nanowire Josephson quantum dot devices, i.e. quantum dots coupled to two pieces of superconductors. LÄS MER
15. Quantum effects in nanoscale Josephson junction circuits
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of an experimental study on single-charge effects in nanoscale Josephson junctions and Cooper pair transistors (CPTs). In nanoscale Josephson junctions the charging energy EC becomes significant at sub-Kelvin temperatures and single-charge effects, such as the Coulomb blockade of Cooper pair tunneling, influence the transport properties.
