  1. 21. Design of enzymatic systems for the modification of cellulose fiber surfaces

    Författare :Malin Gustavsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Candida antarctica lipase B; Pichia pastoris; cellulose-binding module; proteolysis; carbohydrate ester; xyloglucan endotransglycosylase; fiber modification;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design of enzymatic systems forthe modification of cellulose fiber surfaces. A single-enzymeapproach employed a conjugate between theNeocallimastix patriciarumCel6A cellulose-bindingmodule and lipase B fromCandida antarctica(CBM-CALB) to enhance theaccessibility of the enzyme to the target hydroxyl groups. 2. 22. Heterologous expression, characterization and applications of carbohydrate active enzymes and binding modules

    Författare :Åsa Kallas; Tuula T. Teeri; Edward A. Bayer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Populus; xyloglucan endotransglycosylase; carbohydrate binding modules; endo- 1; 4 -b-xylanase; Escherichia coli; Pichia pastoris; N-glycosylation; fiber analysis; Bioengineering; Bioteknik; Wood fibre and forest products; Träfiber- och virkeslära;

    Sammanfattning : Wood and wood products are of great economical and environmental importance, both in Sweden and globally. Biotechnology can be used both for achieving raw material of improved quality and for industrial processes such as biobleaching. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Strategies for cellulose fiber modification

    Författare :Per Persson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Candida antarctica lipase B; cationic catalysis; cellulose-binding module; dendrimer; enzymatic polymerization; fiber modification; silica-cast replica; sol-gel mineralization; organocatalysis; xyloglucan endotransglycosylase;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes strategies for and examples ofcellulose fiber modification.The ability of an engineered biocatalyst, acellulose-binding module fused to theCandida antarcticalipase B, to catalyze ring-openingpolymerization of e-caprolactone in close proximity tocellulose fiber surfaces was explored. 4. 24. Biomedical Applications of Bacterial Cellulose Fermentation, Morphology and Surface Properties

    Författare :Aase Katarina Bodin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biocompatibility; xyloglucan epitopes; mechanical properties; cell adhesion; tubular fermentation; morphology; Bacterial cellulose; surface properties; meniscus mold; crystal formation.; ozonation; adsorption;

    Sammanfattning : Because average life expectancy has increased and peoples lifestyles have changed, degenerative diseases have become a critical issue. The demand for biomedical materials to replace or improve major body systems (skeletal, circulatory and nervous, etc.) will increase as people strive to maintain good quality of life. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Surface modification of cellulose materials : from wood pulps to artificial blood vessels

    Författare :Lage Ahrenstedt; Harry Brumer; Lars Wågberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the improvement of two radically different cellulose materials, paper and artificial blood vessels, constructed from two diverse cellulose sources, wood pulp and Acetobacter xylinum. The improvement of both materials was possible due to the natural affinity of the hemicellulose xyloglucan for cellulose. LÄS MER
