16. Nanowire Heterostructures- Growth, Characterization and Optical Physics
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes growth, processing, characterization and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy of nanowire heterostructures. The nanowires were made of III-V semiconductor materials and were produced by Au-particle assisted growth. LÄS MER
17. Molecular Beam Epitaxy and Characterisation of GaN-compounds on GaAs(001) and Sapphire(0001)
Sammanfattning : The hexagonal (wurtzite) and the cubic (zinc blende) group-III nitrides and their heterostructures have attracted much attention due to their potential for applications in high-power, high-frequency electronic and optoelectronic devices. The optical emission range of the GaN-based alloys cover the whole visible range from near infrared (IR) to ultraviolet (UV). LÄS MER
18. Doping of Semiconductor Nanowires
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, in situ doping during growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires, primarily for photovoltaic applications, is investigated. The nanowires were grown by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE), with gold seed particles. LÄS MER
19. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Nanowires: Influence of Doping and Etching on Polytypism in InP
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor nanowires have many properties which makes them interesting for future electronic devices. The fact that they have very small diameters allow them to combine different III-V materials into heterostructures, and makes it possible to grow them on Si substrates which are the basis of nearly all current semiconductor technology. 20. Defect-engineered (Ti,Al)N thin films
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effect of point defects (nitrogen vacancies and interstitials) and multilayering ((Ti,Al)N/TiN) on the phase transformations in cathodic arc-evaporated cubic (Ti,Al)N thin films at elevated temperatures. Special attention is paid to the evolution of the beneficial spinodal decomposition into c-TiN and c-AlN, the detrimental formation of wurtzite AlN and the potential application as hard coating in cutting tools.
