  1. 1. Wrist and thumb joint postures and motions: Measurements using electrogoniometry and EMG

    Författare :Per Jonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Wrist joint; Finger joint; Electromyography; Accuracy; Electrogoniometry; Input device; Information and communication technology; Mobile phone; Muscle activity; Posture; Thumb; Wrist;

    Sammanfattning : Correct measurements of the joints’ extreme postures, velocity and repetitiveness are important for studies of the origin of musculoskeletal disorders. Posture measurements of wrist and thumb joints may also provide insights into input device designs that may reduce effort and/or facilitate productivity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders In Female Machine milkers - An Epidemiological, Clinical and Ergonomic Study

    Författare :Marianne Stål; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biaxial eletrogoniometer; movements; wrist positions; pronator syndrome; median nerve entrapment; clinical examination; hands; wrists; upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders; agriculture; Cross-sectional study; female milkers; electromyography muscles of the forearm.; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the thesis were to investigate the prevalence of the upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders in female milkers in relation to other occupational groups; to clarify the relationship between disorders and work environment, psychosocial and life style factors; to compare in a prospective study, pain, ache and discomfort reported by a questionnaire with clinical symptoms and sign; to examine milkers with wrist and hand disorders with regard to type and localization of the tissue injury; to quantify the work load on forearms, wrists and hands during machine milking. An increased risk developing symptoms in wrists and hands was noted in the active milker group compared to the non-milker and the nursing assistant group. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Methods for measuring physical workload with relevance for musculoskeletal disorders of neck and upper limb

    Författare :Gert-Åke Hansson; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; shoulder; exposure-response relation; exposure; repetitiveness; movements; postures; questionnaire; EMG; electromyography; accelerometer; Goniometer; inclinometer; arm; wrist; hand.; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the neck and upper limb are a major problem. Women in repetitive manual work is one large affected group. Preventive actions are hampered by the lack of knowledge regarding quantitative exposure-response relations for physical workload. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Wrist ligaments : innervation patterns and ligamento-muscular reflexes

    Författare :Elisabet Hagert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Wrist ligaments; mechanoreceptors; proprioception; sensorimotor functions; neuromuscular control; ligamento-muscular reflexes; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: The principal role of wrist stability is to facilitate the dexterous hand in a multitude of functions. To achieve joint stability, in general, a fine interaction of both static and dynamic elements is of essence. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Physical exposure, musculoskeletal symptoms and attitudes related to ICT use

    Författare :Ewa Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Input device; Wrist movements; Electrogoniometry; EMG; Muscle activity; Thumb movements; Working technique; Information and communication technology; Computer mouse; Mobile phone;

    Sammanfattning : High prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms/disorders in neck and upper extremities are reported among computer users. Considering the widespread use of information and communication technology (ICT) and mobile phones becoming more and more like computers with small keyboards it is of importance to identify the factors and conditions related to this use, that influence our health.
