  1. 1. Wood Fingerprints : Recognition of Sawn Wood Products

    Författare :Tobias Pahlberg; Cris Luengo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träproduktutveckling; Wood Products Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with wood fingerprints and presents ways to track sawn wood products through an industrial process using cameras. The possibility to identify individual wood products comes from the biological variation of the trees, where the genetic code, environment and breakdown process creates a unique appearance for every board. 2. 2. Mechanical processing for improved products made from Swedish hardwood

    Författare :Jimmy Johansson; Dick Sandberg; František Hapla; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; capillarity; capillary transport; wood products; customer requirements; ecoeffectiveness; ; sawing pattern; star-sawing; the PrimWood Method; timber products; volume yield; water transport; Wood fibre and forest products; Träfiber- och virkeslära;

    Sammanfattning : Swedish hardwood is today used in the energy, pulp and mechanical hardwood industries. Only very small volumes of Swedish hardwood are, however, consumed by the mechanical industry that normally pays the highest timber price. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Multiphase continuum modeling of wood : A hybrid mixture theory approach

    Författare :Winston Mmari; Björn Johannesson; Lynn Schreyer; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Moisture transport; Coupled heat and moisture; Over-hygroscopic; Hybrid mixture theory; Mixture theory; Swelling; Hygro-mechanical; Non-linear elasticity; Large deformation; Phase field crack model; Anisotropic cracking; FEM; Numerical model; Norway spruce; Wood; Porous media; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wood has been used as a construction material for a very long time. The development of efficient industrial production processes of wood has expanded the use of the material with the introduction of new products, such as engineered wood products. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 5. 5. Exploring aspects of automation decisions : A study in the Swedish wood products industry

    Författare :Roaa Salim; Mats Winroth; Kristina Säfsten; Jimmy Johansson; Kerstin Johansen; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Sweden; Wood products industry; Manufacturing strategy; Automation decisions;

    Sammanfattning : The wood products industry is important to Sweden's prosperity, and is currently facing several challenges by increased global competition. To avoid the gradual decline of the industry’s contribution to the country’s revenues and employment opportunities, the Swedish wood products industry needs to increase the proportion of the raw material that is refined.
