1. Wood Fingerprints : Recognition of Sawn Wood Products
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with wood fingerprints and presents ways to track sawn wood products through an industrial process using cameras. The possibility to identify individual wood products comes from the biological variation of the trees, where the genetic code, environment and breakdown process creates a unique appearance for every board. 2. Surface-Densified Wood : From Laboratory-Scale Research Towards a Competitive Product
Sammanfattning : For many decades, humans have been consuming more resources than the world has to offer in the long run. Increasing the use of renewable materials, such as wood, is essential if we are to achieve a sustainable use of the resources available to us. LÄS MER
3. Strategic raw material supply for the particleboard-producing industry in Europe : Problems and challenges
Sammanfattning : Particleboard was invented to increase the utilization of wood and it soon became an important core material for furniture production. Nowadays, other industries such as the pulp and papermaking industry and the thermal energy recovery industry claim the same type of raw material. LÄS MER
4. The effect of wood properties on oxidative isolation of cellulose nanofibrils and characterization of networks
Sammanfattning : Wood is a natural resource that has been an integral part of society for as long as humans have been on Earth. From serving as fuel for fire and construction material the applications of wood has been developed in modern times and only surged as a consequence of societal strive for sustainability and usage of green resources. 5. Acetylation of Solid Wood. Wood Properties and Process Development
Sammanfattning : The influence of acetylation on selected wood properties has been determined for Scandinavian pine and spruce wood, in order to predict the behavior of acetylated wood when it is used in different applications. Only minor differences in both bending strength and the modulus of elasticity were obtained for acetylated wood when compared with unmodified wood, and can, for practical applications, be considered unaltered.
