Sammanfattning : This dissertation deals with, magic, popular beliefs in the Witches Sabbath (in Sweden called Blåkulla), the witchcraft trials within the jurisdiction of Svea Circuit Court 1597–1720 and some aspects of the Great Northern Witch Craze of 1668–1677. The study examines the meanings of popular beliefs (folklore) in magic and Blåkulla and the actions, causes and events that actualised these beliefs. LÄS MER

5. Wicked women and witches. Subversive readings of the female monster in Mexican and Argentinian horror film
Sammanfattning : This thesis accrues to the growing field of Latin American horror scholarship in relation to gender and sexuality, discussing the implications of the representation of the feminized, racialized and/or impoverished monster in relation to Mexican and Argentinian national identity discourses. The thesis looks at two distinct iterations of gendered monstrosity in Mexican and Argentinian visual culture: La Llorona and the bruja (witch), respectively. LÄS MER
