  1. 1. Standing up to a Multinational Giant : The Saint-Gobain World Council and the American Window Glass Workers' Strike in the American Saint Gobain Corporation in 1969

    Författare :Fredrik Håkansson; Lars Olsson; Marcel van der Linden; Lars Berggren; Geert Van Goethem; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; World Councils; Compagnie de Saint-Gobain; the American Saint Gobain Corporation; flat glass; sheet glass; window glass; trade union internationalism; Charles Levinson; the International Federation of Chemical and General Workers’ Unions; the United Glass and Ceramic Workers of North America; glassworkers; Historia; History;

    Sammanfattning : In the 1960s, a large number of World Councils were founded in a number of industrial branches. One of the most recognized World Councils was established in the multinational glass manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain in 1969, in connection to an international trade union action against the company. 2. 2. Rum utan utsikt : Fönster och ljus i medeltida byggnader

    Författare :Linda Qviström; Anders Andrén; Herman Bengtsson; Martin Hansson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeology; Medieval Archaeology; Post Medieval Archaeology; Windows; Medieval Buildings; Light Openings; Window Glass; View; Interiors; Darkness; Light; Lighting; Light Equipment; Arkeologi; historisk arkeologi; medeltida byggnader; fönster; ljusöppningar; fönsterglas; utsikt; inomhusmiljö; mörker; ljus; belysning; belysningsredskap; Uppland; Gotland; arkeologi; Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : Windows, light and a view are self-evident parts of contemporary interiors. This was not the case in Scandinavia during the Middle Ages (c. 1050–1520 CE), when closed spaces without wall openings were standard. LÄS MER

  3. 3. External Water Condensation and Angular Solar Absorptance : Theoretical Analysis and Practical Experience of Modern Windows

    Författare :Anna Werner; Arne Roos; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Svend Svendsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Engineering physics; Windows; External condensation; Radiative cooling; Optical properties; Coated glass; External condensation; Radiant cooling; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Part I of this thesis is a theoretical background to parts II and III. Part II treats the phenomenon of decreased visibility through a glazing due to external water condensation, dew, on the external surface. Some simulations are presented where it is shown that under certain circumstances condensation can be expected. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cooling demand in commercial buildings-The influence of building design

    Författare :Hendrik Voll; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar factor; influence of design; cooling load; Commercial buildings; energy need; window share;

    Sammanfattning : Large window areas and glass façades have become popular by architects. As the glass architecture has become fashionable in quite a short time it seems that the architects are not always aware of the energy consuming consequences that the highly glazed buildings, sometimes in combination with special room plans might cause. 5. 5. Solar Shading for Low Energy Use and Daylight Quality in Offices: Simulations, Measurements and Design Tools

    Författare :Marie-Claude Dubois; Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; screens; venetian blinds; awnings; design tools; measurements; computer simulations; solar-protective glass; heating; cooling; visual comfort; daylighting; energy use; Shading devices; solar protection; Architecture; interior design; Arkitektur; inredningsarkitektur; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the impact of solar shading devices on energy use and daylight quality in office rooms. The impact on energy use is analysed through computer simulations with the dynamic energy simulation program Derob-LTH while the impact on daylight quality is investigated through measurements in full-scale experimental office rooms and simulations with the program Radiance.
