6. Efficient and Wideband Load Modulated Power Amplifiers for Wireless Communication
Sammanfattning : The increasing demand for mobile data traffic has resulted in new challenges and requirements for the development of the wireless communication infrastructure. With the transition to higher frequencies and multi-antenna systems, radio frequency (RF) hardware performance, especially the power amplifier (PA), becomes increasingly important. LÄS MER
7. Ultra Wideband: Communication and Localization
Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis develops methods for UWB communication. To meet the stringent regulatory body constraints, the physical layer signaling technique of the UWB transceiver should be optimally designed. LÄS MER
8. Wideband CMOS Data Converters for Linear and Efficient mmWave Transmitters
Sammanfattning : With continuously increasing demands for wireless connectivity, higher carrier frequencies and wider bandwidths are explored. To overcome a limited transmit power at these higher carrier frequencies, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, with a large number of transmitters and antennas, are used to direct the transmitted power towards the user. 9. Nonlinear Characterization of Wideband Microwave Devices and Dispersive Effects in GaN HEMTs
Sammanfattning : Measurements play a key role in the development of microwave hardware as they allow engineers to test and verify the RF performance on a system, circuit, and component level. Since modern cellular standards employ complex modulation formats with wider signal bandwidths to cope with the growing demand of higher datarates, nonlinear characterization using wideband stimuli is becoming increasingly important. 10. Reconfigurable and Wideband Receiver Components for System-on-Chip Millimetre-Wave Radiometer Front-Ends
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents solutions and studies related to the design of reconfigurable and wideband receiver circuits for system-on-chip (SoC) radiometer front-ends within the millimetre-wave (mm-wave) range. Whereas many of today’s mm-wave front-ends are bulky and costly due to having discrete RF components, single-chip receiver modules could potentially result in a wider use for emerging applications such as wireless communication, short range radar and passive imaging security sensors if realised with adequate performances and at a lower cost.
