1. The influence of Pulp Type and Hot-pressing Conditions on Paper Strength Development
Sammanfattning : The hot-pressing technology has proven to have the potential for manufacturing of strong, wet stable materials based on eco-friendly renewable and recyclable lignocellulose. The purpose of this work was to study how the pulp characteristics and the hot-pressing conditions affect the dry and wet strength properties of paper. LÄS MER
2. Strength grading of structural timber and EWP laminations of Norway spruce : Development potentials
Sammanfattning : Strength grading of structural timber is a process by which value is added to sawn products. It is to the greater part carried out using machine grading based on statistical relationships between so called indicating properties and bending strength. LÄS MER
3. High strength paper from high yield pulps by means of hot-pressing
Sammanfattning : AbstractHigh Yield Pulp (HYP), i.e. TMP, SGW or CTMP, is normally used in printing papers (News, SC and LWC) or in a middle layer on cardboard i.e. LÄS MER
4. Can Bone Void Fillers Carry Load? : Behaviour of Calcium Phosphate Cements Under Different Loading Scenarios
Sammanfattning : Calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) are used as bone void fillers and as complements to hardware in fracture fixation. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the possibilities and limitations of the CPCs’ mechanical properties, and find out if these ceramic bone cements can carry application-specific loads, alone or as part of a construct. 5. Strength grading of structural timber and EWP laminations of Norway spruce : Development potentials and industrial applications
Sammanfattning : Machine strength grading of structural timber is a sawmill process by which considerable value is added to sawn products. The principle of such grading is that the strength of a timber member is predicted on the basis of a so called indicating property (IP) which, in general, represents an averaged value of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) measured over a board length of about one meter or more.
