1. Characterization of soot in air and rain over southern Asia
Sammanfattning : Filter-based optical measurements of light absorbing particulate matter at awavelength of about 550 nm, here referred to as soot, in air and rainwaterhave been performed during the period from 1st June 2005 to 31th May 2009at Godavari in Nepal, Sinhagad in India and Hanimaadhoo in The Maldives.A method for determination of water-insoluble light absorbing matter inrainwater has been developed. 2. Land-atmosphere exchange of carbon in a high-Arctic wet tundra ecosystem
Sammanfattning : Arctic ecosystems play a key role in the terrestrial carbon (C) cycle, but spa-tially explicit data on the C exchange is scarce in these remote areas. The global warming is especially dominant in the Arctic, and these areas are vul-nerable to climate change. LÄS MER
3. Interception and storage of wet deposited radionuclides in crops : field experiments and modelling
Sammanfattning : The emission of radionuclides into the atmosphere from various sources, such as nuclear power plant accidents and nuclear bomb explosions, can result in the interception and uptake of radionuclides by crops in the agricultural ecosystem. These radionuclides e.g. LÄS MER
4. Land Use and Cover or Precipitation? : Changes on Hydrological Response of the Upper Paraná River Basin
Sammanfattning : The Upper Paraná River Basin (UPRB) has undergone extensive Land Use and Cover Changes (LUCC) in thelatest decades, due to rapid population growth and economic development. Furthermore, variation in precipitationpatterns was observed across the basin mainly after the 1970s Climate shift. LÄS MER
5. Temporal and spatial variability of carbon cycling in a subarctic landscape
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the carbon balance in a subarctic landscape at different temporal and spatial scales. Its focus is mainly on the peatland and mountain birch forest (Betula pubescens ssp. czerepanovii) ecosystems within the Abisko area in northernmost Sweden. This is an area with a temperature close to the 0 OC mean annual isotherm. LÄS MER
