1. Direct conversion of methane-to-methanol: transition-metal dimer sites in small-pore zeolites: First-principles calculations and microkinetic modeling
Sammanfattning : Direct conversion of methane to methanol is a highly desired reaction. Partially oxidizing methane into a liquid fuel at ambient temperature and pressure would enable utilization of natural gas and biogas to a much larger extent than what is possible today. LÄS MER
2. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion
Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules. 3. Aging of Lean NOX Trap Catalysts and Hydrocarbon Trapping in Cold-Start Applications
Sammanfattning : It is well known that combustion processes worldwide give rise to emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NOX), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and particulates. For vehicles, the method for handling these emissions has been through the development of the catalytic converter. LÄS MER
4. Spectroscopic investigation of palladium catalysts during wet methane oxidation
Sammanfattning : Abatement of the strong greenhouse gas methane in vehicle applications by use of catalytic end-of-pipe technologies is challenging due to the prevailing reaction conditions with low temperatures and high water content. In this thesis, the mechanisms behind low-temperature water inhibition of lean methane oxidation over palladium-based catalysts have been studied using an integrated experimental approach including wet-chemical preparation of model catalysts with systematic variation of key performance parameters, transient measurements of reaction kinetics in chemical flow reactor, and operando infrared and X-ray absorption spectroscopic characterisation. 5. Models for Wet Scrubbing of SO2 and NOx
Sammanfattning : Combustion of fossil fuels is the main source for emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Emission regulations and the growing environmental awareness will make great demands upon cost-effective deSO2 and deNOx techniques in the future. LÄS MER
