  1. 1. Fluid Management in Haemodialysis : Studies on current practices and new methods

    Författare :Jenny Stenberg; Hans Furuland; Magnus Lindberg; Eva Tiensuu Janson; Bernd Stegmayr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Haemodialysis; Fluid management; Fluid overload; Bioimpedance spectroscopy; Dry weight; Brain natriuretic peptide; Decision aid; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic fluid overload has been identified as an independent predictor of mortality in haemodialysis patients, and 30% remain fluid overloaded at dry weight. The use of bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) in fluid management may improve blood pressure control and cardiovascular status. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pyrolysis and Detoxification of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for Feedstock Recycling

    Författare :Panagiotis Evangelopoulos; Weihong Yang; Efthymios Kantarelis; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pyrolysis; WEEE; solvent extraction; brominated flame retardants; Tetrabromobisphenol A; Auger reactor; Πυρόλυση; ΑΗΗΕ; εκχύλιση με διαλύτη; βρωμιωμένα επιβραδυντικά φλόγας; Τετραβρωμοδιφαινόλη Α; Pyrolys; WEEE; lösningsmedelsextraktion; bromerade flamskyddsmedel; tetrabrombisfenol A; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The trends in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generation shows that their volume constantly increases, while the current waste management technologies have proven to be insufficient in order to meet the strict criteria and the new legislations of the European Union. Pyrolysis and thermal treatment in general could be a valuable solution for closing the loop of materials and could contribute to the energy demands of modern society. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Deep Dive into Sediments : Exploring approaches to assess environmental risks and achieving environmental goals in management of contaminated sediments in Sweden

    Författare :Peter Bruce; Clare Bradshaw; Yvonne Ohlsson; Anna Sobek; Sabine Apitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sediment; risk assessment; risk evaluation; risk management; contaminants; regulations; weight of evidence; line of evidence; environmental goals; environmental management; guidelines; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Contaminated sediments are common, especially near urban and industrialized areas, and they can have negative ecological effects. In three studies, I explore the challenges for environmental management of contaminated sediments, focusing on environmental risk assessment (ERA) in Sweden. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sustainability and Flexural Behaviour of Textile Reinforced Concrete

    Författare :Natalie Williams Portal; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life Cycle Assessment LCA ; sustainability; Textile Reinforced Concrete; TRC; facade elements; flexural behaviour; non-linear finite element analyses; structural tests;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete reinforced with conventional steel is one of the most commonly used building materials, yet it has historically shown disadvantages in terms of durability and vulnerability to corrosion attack. Various remedial methods have been applied to overcome the shortcomings of this building material, such as increasing the concrete cover, which, however, leads to an increased self-weight of the structure. 5. 5. Towards empirically grounded guidance for resource efficiency: Applying, developing and synthesising environmental assessments

    Författare :Daniel Böckin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Circular Business Models; guidelines; business models; synthesis; Life Cycle Assessment; decoupling; resource efficiency; 3D-printing; Circular Economy; waste hierarchy;

    Sammanfattning : Numerous solutions have been proposed to mitigate environmental damage, including resource efficiency and the vision of circular economy. Suggested solutions are often formulated as guidelines and heuristics like in the EU waste hierarchy, so-called R-hierarchies for resource efficiency and various guidelines for circular business models.
