16. Bovine Teeth in Age Assessment, from Medieval Cattle to Belgian Blue : Methodology, Possibilities and Limitations
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to develop and characterise an age assessment method based on incremental lines in dental cementum using contemporary bovine teeth and teeth from archaeological faunal assemblages. The investigations also included two other age assessment methods: tooth wear pattern and macroscopic dental measurements. LÄS MER
17. Crushing Plant Dynamics
Sammanfattning : The performance of a crushing plant is an essential element in achieving efficient production of aggregates or metals. A crushing plant´s operating performance depends on the design and configuration of each individual process unit, the configuration of the plant, the design of the control system, events occurring in the process and the physical properties of the incoming feed. 18. Sputtering and Characterization of Complex Multi-element Coatings
Sammanfattning : The thin film technology is of great importance in modern society and is a key technology in wide spread applications from electronics and solar cells to hard protective coatings on cutting tools and diffusion barriers in food packaging. This thesis deals with various aspects of thin film processing and the aim of the work is twofold; firstly, to obtain a fundamental understanding of the sputter deposition and the reactive sputter deposition processes, and secondly, to evaluate sputter deposition of specific material systems with low friction properties and to improve their performance. 19. Brake Judder
Sammanfattning : Brake judder is a braking induced, forced vibration occurring in different types of vehicles. The frequency can be as high as 500 Hz, but usually remains below 100 Hz and often as low as 10-20 Hz. The driver experiences judder as vibrations in the steering wheel, brake pedal and floor. 20. Quality of snow deposited in urban areas : Storage, load assessment and release of selected pollutants with snowmelt
Sammanfattning : Snow deposited in urban areas is exposed to pollutants originating from traffic, wet and dry atmospheric deposition, de-icing chemicals and traction materials. The conventional pollutants found in urban snow include solids (TSS), metals (Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, etc.), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), and chlorides. LÄS MER
