  1. 1. Submillimeter-Wave Waveguide Frontends by Silicon-on-Insulator Micromachining

    Författare :Adrian Gomez-Torrent; Joachim Oberhammer; Umer Shah; Goutam Chattopadhyay; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antenna; orthomode transducer; switch; waveguide; radiofrequency; beamforming network; submillimeter-wave; terahertz; silicon micromachining; deep reactive ion etching; silicon on insulator; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents novel radiofrequency (RF) frontend components in the submillimeter-wave (sub-mmW) range implemented by silicon micromachining, or deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). DRIE is rapidly becoming a driving technology for the fabrication of waveguide components and systems when approaching the terahertz (THz) frequency range. LÄS MER

    Författare :Abbas Vosoogh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gap waveguide; Electric Discharge Machining EDM ; Artificial Magnetic Conductor AMC ; slot array antenna; low sidelobe; high effciency; millimeter wave; aperture efficiency; Bandpass filter BPF ;

    Sammanfattning : The millimeter wave frequency range has got a lot of attention over the past few years because it contains unused frequency spectrum resources that are suitable for delivering Gbit/s end-user access in areas with high user density. Due to the limited output power that current RF active components can deliver in millimeter waves, antennas with the merits of low profile, high gain, high effciency and low cost are needed to compensate free space path loss and increase the communication distance for the emerging high data rate wireless systems. 3. 3. Analysis and Design of Conformal Array Antennas

    Författare :Patrik Persson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Conformal antennas; conformal arrays; UTD; high frequency method; MoM; hybrid method; mutual coupling; singly curved surface; doubly curved surface; geodesics; dielectric covered circular cylinder; non-paraxial region. paraxial region; waveguide fed; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Today there is a great need for communication between people and even between things, using systems onboard e.g. aircraft, cars, ships and satellites. As a consequence, these communications needs require antennas mounted on or integrated in the surfaces of different vehicles or platforms, i. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gap Waveguide: Low Loss Microwave Passive Components and MMIC Packaging Technique for High Frequency Applications

    Författare :Ashraf Uz Zaman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Quasi TEM; Slot Array; PMC; Gap waveguide; Narrow-band Filter;

    Sammanfattning : The heavy congestion at the existing radio frequency spectrum allocated for the today’s wireless communications motivates and accelerates the research work at mmWave bands or even higher frequency range where more spectrum space is available for massive data rate delivery. The inclination of modern wireless system research and development is towards small size, reliable, high-performance and high-yield microwave multifunctional products. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Millimeter-Waves Slot Array Antennas based on Gap Waveguide Technology

    Författare :Jinlin Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Recently, gap waveguide technology is introduced as a promising guiding structure for millimeter-wave systems. The conception of gap waveguide technology can be modeled for theoretical analysis by two parallel plates, a top perfect electric conductor layer and a bottom perfect magnetic conductor layer. LÄS MER
