1. Atmosphere-ocean Interactions in Swell Dominated Wave Fields
Sammanfattning : Ocean wind waves represent the atmosphere-ocean boundary, playing a central role in the air-sea exchanging processes. Heat, mass and momentum are transferred across this boundary, with waves mediating the exchange of principally the momentum between the winds and the ocean surface. During the generation process waves are called wind sea. LÄS MER
2. Time Spectral Methods - Towards Plasma Turbulence Modelling
Sammanfattning : Energy comes in two forms; potential energy and kinetic energy. Energyis stored as potential energy and released in the form of kinetic energy. This process of storage and release is the basic strategy of all energy alternatives in use today. This applies to solar, wind, fossil fuels, and the list goes on. LÄS MER
3. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 4. Numerical Investigation of Rotating and Stratified Turbulence
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric and oceanic flows are strongly affected by rotation and stratification. Rotation is exerted through Coriolis forces which mainly act in horizontal planes whereas stratification largely affects the motion along the vertical direction through buoyancy forces, the latters related to the vertical variation of the fluid density. 5. Hydrodynamics considerations in cells systems from ocean flow to perfusion cultivation process
Sammanfattning : Microorganisms and animal cells are grown surrounded by fluid, which is providing them with nutrients and removing their waste products. In nature and industry processes, cells/microbes can be subject to aggressive environments, such as turbulent flow or shear flow. LÄS MER
