1. Yacon as a food ingredient in meat products : A comparison between Soluble and Insoluble Fraction of Yacon
Sammanfattning : The potential of yacon roots as a food ingredient was evaluated to determine its application in the food industry, especially in the meat industry. The understanding of yacon and its interactions with the sarcoplasmic andmyofibrillar proteins of meat was the key part of this study. LÄS MER
2. Dual isotope (13C-14C) Studies of Water-Soluble Organic Carbon (WSOC) Aerosols in South and East Asia
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosols may be emitted directly as particles (primary) or formed from gaseous precursors (secondary) from different natural and anthropogenic sources. The highly populated South and East Asia regions are currently in a phase of rapid economic growth to which high emissions of carbonaceous aerosols are coupled. LÄS MER
3. Metals in MSWI fly ash - problems or opportunities?
Sammanfattning : Incineration of municipal solid waste is a commonly used management method to take care of our waste. However, the residues produced are a problem. They often contain large amounts of potentially toxic metal compounds and soluble salts, which can cause harm to the environment and human health if released from the ash. LÄS MER
4. Aerosol-water interaction at sub and super-saturated regimes : From small scale molecular mechanisms to large scale atmospheric models
Sammanfattning : The term “atmospheric aerosol” refers to solid or liquid particles suspended in the atmosphere. Atmospheric aerosols influence the Earth’s energy budget directly by scattering and absorbing radiation (known as the direct aerosol effect) and indirectly by acting as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) and ice nucleating particles and thereby modifying cloud properties (known as the indirect aerosol effect). 5. Characterisation of PFASs and Organofluorine in Freshwater Environments : Transfer from water to land via emergent aquatic insects
Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are anthropogenic contaminants of emerging concern, because many are highly persistent to degradation and have been linked to adverse effects in humans as well as their ubiquitous spread in aquatic environments. This thesis investigated distribution of PFASs and organofluorine in freshwater environments impacted by PFAS point sources. LÄS MER
