1. The Water Taboo : Restraining the Weaponisation of Water in International Conflict
Sammanfattning : Why do nation states in conflict with one another refrain from weaponising water? Water has long been a standard weapon of armed conflict. In the post-World War II period, however, nation states in international conflict have made concerted efforts to restrain its weaponisation. LÄS MER
2. Water Realities and Development Trajectories : Global and Local Agricultural Production Dynamics
Sammanfattning : Water constraints for humans and nature are gaining more and more public attention as a critical environmental dilemma that needs to be addressed. When aquifers and rivers are running dry, the debate refers to an ongoing “world water crisis”. LÄS MER
3. Arsenic in Alluvial Aquifers in the Meghna Basin, Southeastern Bangladesh : Hydrogeological and Geochemical Characterisation
Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of arsenic (As) in Bangladesh groundwater has emerged as a massive calamity exposing a large population to the risk of As toxicity from drinking water sources and agricultural products. Holocene alluvial aquifers in the delta- and flood-plains of the Ganges-Brahmaputra- Meghna (GBM) river systems are severely affected by high levels of As in groundwater. LÄS MER
4. Hydrogeological and geochemical assessment of aquifer systems with geogenic arsenic in Southeastern Bangladesh : Targeting low arsenic aquifers for safe drinking water supplies in Matlab
Sammanfattning : Naturally occurring arsenic (As) in Holocene aquifers in Bangladesh have undermined a long success of supplying the population with safe drinking water. Arsenic is mobilised in reducing environments through reductive dissolution of Fe(III)-oxyhydroxides. LÄS MER
5. A flexible and polarizable water model built on interpolated multipoles
Sammanfattning : Water has a rich phase diagram with regions of meta-stability, the prime examples being super-cooled and super-heated liquid water.Below ca 50 °C, water exhibits unusual and not yet fully explained anomalous thermodynamic properties upon cooling, for example a minimum in compressibility at 46 °C, a minimum in heat capacity at 35 °C, a density maximum at 4 °C, and a compressibility maximum at -44 °C in the supercooled liquid, at ambient pressure.
