41. Treatment of domestic wastewater using microbiological processes and hydroponics in Sweden
Sammanfattning : Conventional end-of-pipe solutions for wastewater treatment have been criticized from a sustainable view-point, in particular regarding recycling of nutrients. The integration of hydroponic cultivation into a wastewater treatment system has been proposed as an ecological alternative, where nutrients can be removed from the wastewater through plant uptake; however, cultivation of plants in a temperate climate, such as Sweden, implies that additional energy is needed during the colder and darker period. 42. Dissolved Air Flotation and Microscreening for Particle Separation in Wastewater Treatment
Sammanfattning : Particle separation is one of the fundamental processes in wastewater treatment and a good understanding of the basic separation mechanisms ? sedimentation, flotation and filtration ? is critical in the design of wastewater treatment systems. Upgrading of treatment plants for enhanced primary treatment and effluent polishing are current examples of applications where effective, high-rate separation methods are of interest. LÄS MER

44. Application of ozone in wastewater treatment : Oxidation of pharmaceuticals and filamentous bulking sludge
Sammanfattning : As pharmaceutical removal was not part of the of the modern wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) design, it is not surprising that WWTPs have been identified as major point sources of pharmaceuticals entering the environment. The oxidation of pharmaceuticals in the WWTP effluent is one of the-end-of-pipe solutions that are considered most ready for full-scale use. LÄS MER
45. Communities of microalgae and bacteria in photobioreactors treating municipal wastewater
Sammanfattning : Everyone who uses water produces wastewater. This inevitability creates several problems that increase with the growth of the population and industry. LÄS MER
