  1. 11. Designing out waste - Exploring barriers for material recirculation

    Författare :Isabel Ordonez Pizarro; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waste sorting; sustainable development; Water; Waste; Urban; waste management; Resources; resource recovery; Recycling; designing with waste; recycling;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis has investigated what hinders material recirculation in society, to later suggest possible ways to support material recirculation in the future. Since material recirculation is proposed as a way to use waste materials for new production, it was deemed relevant to investigate two separate case studies that enabled recirculation from production systems and waste management. 2. 12. Conditions and Constraints for Waste Management. Collection, Characterisation and Producer Responsibility in Sweden

    Författare :Cecilia Mattsson Petersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waste component analysis; household waste; waste characterisation; source separation; collection; producer responsibility; landfill ban; waste management;

    Sammanfattning : Waste management has changed from being mainly a question of transporting out of sight to being an issue entwined in all parts of society, from product planning to the private domestic sphere. This has imposed new conditions and constraints for waste management, the description of which is the objective of this thesis. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Efficient waste management enables the protection of human health, reducing environmental pollution, saving of natural resources, and achieving sustainable and profitable management of energy. In many countries, the general guidelines for waste management are set by national or local waste management plans. LÄS MER

  4. 14. MATERIAL EFFICIENCY MANAGEMENT IN MANUFACTURING

    Författare :Sasha Shahbazi; Magnus Wiktorsson; Marcus Bjelkemyr; Christina Jönsson; Thomas Lindhqvist; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material efficiency; industrial waste management; manufacturing; Innovation and Design; innovation och design;

    Sammanfattning : Material efficiency is a key solution to provide a reduction in the total environmental impact of global manufacturing, which contributes to avoid generating larger volumes of industrial waste, to reduce extracting and consuming ever more resources and to decrease energy demand and carbon emissions. However, the area of material efficiency in manufacturing has been under-researched and related knowledge is limited. LÄS MER

  5. 15. A Systems Engineering Approach to National Waste Management

    Författare :Maria Ljunggren Söderman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waste management planning; biological treatment; district heating; global warming potential; environmental impact; material recovery; systems engineering; energy recovery; modelling; waste management;

    Sammanfattning : During recent decades, waste management has gradually shifted focus, from waste disposal to integrated waste management of potentially valuable resources and residues. The number and variety of waste streams to handle is large, as well as the diversity of treatment options available. LÄS MER
