21. The in-vitro and in-vivo metabolism of the oral anticoagulant phenprocoumon as influenced by genetic polymorphisms of cytochrome P4502C9
Sammanfattning : Oral anticoagulants are widely used for the prevention of thromboembolic disorders. Warfarin (WA) is most commonly used world-wide, while phenprocoumon (PPC) is the first-line anticoagulant in some European countries including Germany. Each anticoagulant exists in two different enantiomeric forms and is administered orally as a racemate. LÄS MER
22. Antithrombotic treatment of atrial fibrillation before and after the introduction of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC) in the Stockholm health care region
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and the major risk factor for thromboembolic stroke. Effective treatment with the oral anticoagulant (OAC) warfarin has been available for decades. However warfarin treatment is complicated, and demands dose adjustments and regular monitoring. LÄS MER
23. Outcome of Stroke Prevention : Analyses Based on Data from Riks-Stroke and Other Swedish National Registers
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to explore variations in stroke prevention and the effect of prevention on outcome. The studies were based on patients registered in the Swedish Stroke Register between 2001 and 2009 and although used to different extents in each paper, additional information was retrieved through linkage to The National Patient Register, the Cause of Death Register, the Prescribed Drug Register and the Total Population Register. 24. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation : prognostic implications
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on data from the Stockholm Cohort on Atrial Fibrillation (SCAF). This cohort consists of all 2912 patients with atrial fibrillation or flutter who were treated as in or outpatients at South Hospital in Stockholm or at Gustavsberg Primary Care Centre during 2002. 25. Thrombotic and cardiac disease in the antiphospholipid syndrome
Sammanfattning : The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a highly heterogeneous disease that presents with obstetric complications and/or thromboembolic events that can hit any side of the vascular tree in an unpredictable way. The common trait among all patients affected by the syndrome is the persistent presence of the antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) and/or a prolonged coagulation time in vitro, the lupus anticoagulant (LA) test.
