  1. 16. Characterising turbulent ship wakes from an environmental impact perspective

    Författare :Amanda Nylund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratification; ship wake; turbulence; methane emission; shipping; energy pollution; environmental impact;

    Sammanfattning : The world’s oceans, especially coastal areas, are intensively trafficked by ships. All these ships exert pressure on the marine environment, through emission to the atmosphere, discharges of pollutants to the water, and physical disturbance through energy input. Of these impacts, energy pollution from shipping has received the least attention. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Wind-turbine wakes - Effects of yaw, shear and turbine interaction

    Författare :Elektra Kleusberg; Dan Henningson; Philipp Schlatter; Stefan Ivanell; Johan Meyers; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind-turbine wakes; yaw; tip-vortex breakdown; shear; computational fluid dynamics; actuator-line method; spectral-element method; Vindturbinsvakar; girning; turbulent nedbrott hos spetsvirvlar; skjuvning; vakinteraktion; beräkningsströmningsdynamik; actuator line-metod; spektralelementmetod; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The actuator-line method is used together with the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations to investigate the flow development behind wind turbines. Initial investigations focus on providing a thorough validation of the implementation in the spectral-element flow solver Nek5000 against existing numerical and experimental datasets. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Numerical Investigation of Ship Responses in Calm Water and Regular Head Waves

    Författare :Mohsen Irannezhad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nominal wake; Resistance; CFD; RANS; FNPF; Regular head waves; Ship motions;

    Sammanfattning : In order to design fuel efficient ships and install right machinery onboard, ship designers need to know the interaction effects between hull, propeller and appendages in realistic operating conditions. Neglecting the interaction effects may result in under/over-prediction of the required power. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Crowdability of Urban Space. : Ordinary rhythms of clustering and declustering and their architectural prerequisites

    Författare :Sahar Alrabadi; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Crowdability; Urban design; Public Space; socio-materiality; public life; everyday life; social interaction; proxemics; Rhythm; Rhythm analysis; Affordance; Focused ethnography; Ethnography; visual ethnography; Architecture; crowds; collective space; ;

    Sammanfattning : In the wake of densification and urbanisation, crowding has become an increasingly important issue for social sustainability in cities. This also affects urban design and the ways public spaces stimulate different kinds of crowding and clustering. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Kinetic Modeling of the Solar Wind Plasma Interaction with the Moon

    Författare :Shahab Fatemi; Geraint Jones; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rymdteknik; Space Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this research is to understand various aspects of the solar wind plasma interaction with the Earth's Moon by the means of kinetic computer simulations. The Moon is essentially a non-conducting object, that has a tenuous atmosphere and no global magnetic field. LÄS MER
