11. Segmentation of knots : a problem in 3D X-ray scanning of logs
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the possibilities of using 3D X-ray tomography to detect and segment knots in logs. In the sawmill process this should be done previously to the sawing the log into boards. LÄS MER
12. Focal spasticity therapy : effects on motor function, health related quality of life, and central nervous system plasticity
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to obtain knowledge about the effects of a comprehensive spasticity management from several perspectives. To achieve this goal, we investigated the effects on motor functions, health-related quality of life, and the central nervous system correlates to a motor task. LÄS MER
13. Methodological advancements in data analysis and quantitative performance of positron emission tomography
Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a medical imaging modality with which neurophysiological functions can be studied. After a radio-labeled molecule is injected intravenously, it is transported by the blood stream to the target of interest. The radioactive atom of the molecule decays, resulting in two gamma rays that the PET system detects. LÄS MER
14. Medical Volume Visualization Beyond Single Voxel Values
Sammanfattning : Medical visualization involves many complex decisions for both the user and the imaging algorithms. This thesis aims to improve medical volume visualization through a series of technical contributions to aid such decision processes. Improvements are achieved by using more data, beyond single voxels, in the associated visual analyses. LÄS MER
15. Truncated Signed Distance Fields Applied To Robotics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with topics related to dense mapping of large scale three-dimensional spaces. In particular, the motivating scenario of this work is one in which a mobile robot with limited computational resources explores an unknown environment using a depth-camera. LÄS MER
