  1. 1. Analysis of Human Brain MRI : Contributions to Regional Volume Studies

    Författare :Richard Nordenskjöld; Joel Kullberg; Elna-Marie Larsson; Lars Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Göran Starck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; Brain; Volume; Hemisphere; Intracranial volume; Image analysis; Computerized Image Analysis; Datoriserad bildanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Many disorders are associated with regional brain volumes. The analysis of these volumes from MR images often requires sequential processing steps such as localization and delineation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Image analysis for volumetric characterisation of microstructure

    Författare :Maria Axelsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Digital image analysis provides methods for automatic, fast, and reproducible analysis of images. The main contribution of this thesis is new image analysis methods for volumetric characterisation of microstructure with application in the field of material science. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Homogenization of Partial Differential Equations using Multiscale Convergence Methods

    Författare :Pernilla Johnsen; Liselott Flodén; Anders Holmbom; Marianne Olsson Lindberg; Jens Persson; Niklas Wellander; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; homogenization theory; two-scale convergence; multiscale convergence; very weak multiscale convergence; evolution multiscale convergence; very weak evolution multiscale convergence; linear parabolic problems; linear hyperbolic-parabolic problems;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is the theory of periodic homogenization of partial differential equations and some applicable concepts of convergence. More precisely, we study parabolic problems exhibiting both spatial and temporal microscopic oscillations and a vanishing volumetric heat capacity type of coefficient. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Investigation on the self-healing capabilties of asphaltic materials using neutron imaging

    Författare :Adrian Markari; Nicole Kringos; Anders Kaestner; Romain Balieu; Lily Poulikakos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-healing; bituminous materials; neutron imaging; sample size effect; reconstruction; image processing; volumetric analysis; Structural Engineering and Bridges; Bro- och stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : Bitumen acts as a binding agent in asphalt mixtures where it binds the aggregates together. It is known for its potential to heal small cracks and recover its mechanical properties under the right conditions. Though this self-healing property is known, there is currently a lack of knowledge about the mechanisms that drive the process. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Volumetric Analysis in Mechanical Behaviour and Physical Ageing of Polymers

    Författare :Mats Delin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ageing rate; Gr neisen parameter; bulk modulus; KAHR model; dilatometry; Poisson s ratio; timescale; physical ageing; dynamic mechanical properties; stress relaxation; volume changes; creep; Doolittle s equation;

    Sammanfattning : Volumetric changes associated with the deformation of ideal elastic solids depends on elastic constants of the solid and applied strain. Their magnitude is easily determined from the corresponding Poisson's ratios. LÄS MER
