    Sammanfattning : This dissertation highlights the continuity of murukak katavul valipatu, “the worship of god Murukan”, with its distinct characteristics, in the changing history of the island known as Ilam/Ilankai/Lanka/Ceylon/Sri Lanka. The institution of the worship of god Murukan in Tamil civilization is crucial to a historical understanding of the problems of the Tamil people in Malaiyakam where they have now lived since about 1800 (two centuries). 2. 7. Analysis of entry phase in intermittent machining

    Författare :Adnan Agic; Tomas Beno; Jan-Eric Ståhl; Mahdi Eynian; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Entry; Cutting force; Cutting edge geometry; Acceleration; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Cutting forces and vibrations are essential parameters in the assessment of a cutting process. As the energy consumption in the machining process is directly affected by the magnitude of the cutting forces it is of vital importance to design cutting edges and select process conditions that will maintain high tool performance through reduced energy consumption. 3. 8. Bacterial virulence and adaptation mediated by two-component system signalling

    Författare :Henrik Tomenius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Virulence; atomic force microscopy; biofilm; adaptation; two-component system; signal transduction; gene regulation; phosphorylation; BarA; UvrY;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most fundamental ways of signal perception and propagation is mediated by the bacterial two-component system (TCS). These types of systems mediate bacterial adaptation that may cause disease in a host due to expression of virulence factors. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Monitoring Single Tooth Cutting Forces in Wood Bandsawing

    Författare :Vanessa Meulenberg; Dick Sandberg; Daniel Chuchala; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : For economic and environmental benefits, sawmills can reduce their waste by sawing with thinner bandsaw blades. When altering the cutting tooth geometry, it is vital to monitor the sawing process in realistic wood conditions such as frozen (green), non-frozen (green) and dried. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The mechanics of adhesion polymers and their role in bacterial attachment

    Författare :Johan Zakrisson; Magnus Andersson; Ramser Kerstin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pili; optical tweezers; bacterial adhesion; fimbriae; uncoiling;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is increasing at a high rate in both developing and developed countries. To circumvent the problem of drug-resistant bacterial pathogens, we need to develop new effective methods, substances, and materials that can disarm and prevent them from causing infections. LÄS MER
